***Please note this is a 3 day per week role though 2-2.5 days may be possible. 
It will be reviewed on a 2-3 month basis with the prospect that extensions will be offered.*** 

PURPOSE OF JOB

Support the development and implementation of the Council’s Housing Strategy and related strategies, activities and specific initiatives in partnership with a wide range of external organisations and groups. 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Council’s Housing Strategy and other related strategies and priorities.
  • Under the direction of the Principal Housing Strategy Officer, assist with the review of housing policy and consult on, develop and agree new policies.
  • Take forward housing projects and proposals for new housing schemes in collaboration with other officers and partner organisations
  • Support and service the work of cross service working groups and multi agency partnership groups, contributing to the effective delivery of specific elements of the housing strategy
  • Contribute to the Housing Strategy and Initiatives Team’s role in assessing the housing needs of the general population and specific groups and collate information in support of bids for housing funding and the monitoring of the delivery of housing strategies.
  • Under the direction of the Principal Housing Strategy Officer, facilitate and participate in effective consultation with stakeholders and residents and other specific groups including community care groups and minority ethnic groups.
  • Help plan, organise and publicise events to raise awareness and promote aspects of the Housing Strategy and other strategies and disseminate high quality information to members, senior officers and partner organisations.
  • Support the Housing Strategy and Initiatives team in assessing and analysing the impact of new legislation, guidance and policies.
  • Prepare and present reports at internal and external cross service working groups and other meetings, including those held outside normal working hours.
  • Provide support to the Principle Housing Strategy Officer in the collation, collection and analysis of performance information relating to Derby Homes, the Council’s Housing Service and other partners delivering the Housing Strategy.

Educated to degree level or appropriate experience

Able to demonstrate commitment to continuous personal development.

Membership of a professional body relevant to the post, for example, Chartered Institute of Housing.

2. Work experience – paid and unpaid

Relevant experience within in one of the following:

  • Participation or coordination of multiagency project groups
  • Working with vulnerable and or minority groups in housing need, to reduce disadvantage and improve housing opportunities.

Able to demonstrate a working knowledge or understanding of local authorities’ responsibilities regarding:

  • The development of housing strategies or
  • The diverse nature of housing need.

Relevant experience gained within local government, a

housing association, the Homes and Communities Agency or similar.

Experience of facilitating consultations with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies, and residents.
