We are seeking a Management Consultant to gather information to establish the current market of community business and micro enterprises in Hampshire offering individualised services to people needing social care and support, enabling them to live independently in their community with improved choice.
This role will support Adult’s Health and Care to drive the development of different models of care and support within Hampshire, specifically in relation to increasing the number of community businesses and micro providers in the local market place, particularly in rural areas (hamlets and isolated dwellings, rural villages and market towns).
This role will involve working with other Council staff and community partners to:
• Understand the current local provision of community business and micro enterprises, identifying areas of under provision of care through community enterprises and prioritise areas of greatest identified need.
• Identify suitable business infrastructure support and existing businesses that can provide support services to the community businesses and micro enterprises for care and support.
• Develop a model to increase the number community businesses and micro enterprises within Hampshire.
• Establish a network for community and micro-enterprises for care and support so that they support and sustain each other in to the future
This role will be required to undertake the following:
The post holder will need to undertake a community based mapping exercise to find and record existing community and micro-enterprises providing care and support services in the County. The mapping exercise should also identify
a) The name and location of current community and micro enterprise provision is located, and the type of key services they provide, including but not limited to personal care, home help, shopping, gardening, and support to reduce social isolation
b) Sources of support for community and micro-enterprises, both in terms of organisations, sources of information that could be of value and possible funding sources. This information should be subsequently made available for established and emerging enterprises to access easily.
c) Entrepreneurs operating care and support community and micro enterprises who may benefit from support
d) Potential gaps in local provision which might be filled by new enterprises
2. Business Support Organisations
The post holder will work with business support agencies to highlight the needs of social care community business and micro enterprises, how they are different from other businesses and the best ways to support them.
3. Other Support Organisations
The role holder will work with other local support organisations and businesses that could offer services to support the community business and micro enterprises. This includes, but is not limited to, councils for voluntary services, volunteer centres, accountants, and local training providers.
The role holder will seek to identify appropriate funding sources that could support the start-up and development of community and micro enterprises.
The role holder will support the establishment of a network of community and micro enterprises for care and support. This network will be developed to encourage the sharing of resources as well as information. The role holder will work to ensure networking opportunities shall also include relevant training opportunities for community businesses and micro enterprises to spread best practice.
6. Partnership working with other organisations
The role holder must work in partnership with organisations who have links with potential users of the community businesses and micro providers, including District Councils, Clinical Commissioning Groups and other business support and social purpose sector support infrastructure organisations, to ensure an awareness of the work undertaken and next steps to enable their involvement in the development of a sustainable future model for the development of community and micro enterprises for care and support in Hampshire.
