Job Description 

• Create information governance strategies, policies and procedures 

• Update, implement and monitor compliance of information governance related strategies, policies and procedures to make sure the Council meets its legal and statutory obligations 

• Advise on information systems and information held to make sure the Council is compliant with legal and statutory obligations and to recommend immediate remedial action if appropriate 

• Provide a comprehensive information governance sold service to Derby City Schools and other organisations for income generation opportunities 

• Lead on the delivery of advice, guidance and training in relation to the Data Protection Act (DPA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Freedom of Information Act (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), Opendata/Transparency for all levels of employees, Councillors and external Stakeholders to make sure they are aware of and know how to recognise and comply with their individual legal responsibilities 

• Assess the level of protection afforded to information systems against unauthorised access, misuse, abuse, destruction or loss 

• Lead on securing compliance with the NHS Information Governance Toolkit to enable the Council to receive/share data with its health service partners. 

• Assist the Data Protection Officer and Deputy Data Protection Officer to manage the relationship between the Information Commissioners Office and the Council to make sure statutory obligations are met 

• Represent the Council at information governance related meetings and events to promote the Council’s view on information governance issues that affect local authorities in Derbyshire 

• To develop and maintain a framework on governance and information on Council website / Intranet to ensure the public and employees have access to up to date information 

• To develop and implement a robust complaints and appeals mechanism/framework 

• Manage and action governance requests assigned to the governance resolver queue and ensure that requests are actioned within agreed SLAs 

• Be accountable for managing the relationship between The Information Commissioners Office and the Council and to be the point of contact to make sure statutory obligations are met 

• Supervise and allocate tasks to members of the team when allocated to support any project work
