Purpose of Post:

  • To provide a professional and quality craftsmanship in relation to all works carried out.
  • To provide excellent customer service to all Construction Services internal and external customers.            
  •  To organise workload levels to ensure that an efficient service is maintained.
  • To identify areas for improvement and communicate these for inclusion into the Management process.

 

Key Areas:

  • To assist in the delivery of service improvements to meet Berneslai Homes defined objectives.
  • To carry out all aspects of roofing work on maintenance, repairs and Construction projects within Construction Services.

· To assist in meeting all targets and objectives of Construction Services.

· To carry out all works, taking into account Health and Safety responsibilities and requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Operational

  1. To safely replace damaged or missing slates, tiles, flashing and other associated roofing products.
  2. To safely remove roof tiles/slates and associated fixings and the subsequent recovering of a complete roof with felt, laths, tiles/slates including all gauges and setting out.
  3. To safely remove roof coverings to flat felt roofs and the subsequent recovering using high performance felt, hot bitumen and insulation boards.
  4. To safely replace roof coverings using proprietary sheet materials such as metal decking and flashing.
  5. To liaise and assist other employees of various trades, tenants, managers, caretakers etc.
  6. To work at heights using the necessary safety equipment and comply with current legislation.
  7. To maintain vehicle stock levels at optimum level so that service efficiency is achieved.
  8. To submit all worksheets and documents relating to job (electronically or by paper) within the required timescales.

 

General

  1. To provide responses, in line with Customer Service Standards, to issues notified by customers, officers, Board members and Councillors.
  2. Maintain information systems in line with service requirements.
  3. To operate within Berneslai Homes and Council policies including Health and Safety, Finance, Equal Opportunities and Human Resources. 
  4. To ensure a pro-active approach is taken to Equality and Diversity issues.
  5. To ensure a customer focussed approach is adopted in all aspects of the service. To ensure that the needs of customers, both internal and external to Berneslai Homes are met by providing the best quality of service.
  6. To deal with sensitive information with regard to confidentiality, Data protection and Freedom of Information.
  7. To participate in the identification of training requirements and undertake training and development in line with agreed PDRs.
  8. To attend meetings as and when required with internal and external bodies.
  9. To be willing to work outside normal office hours should the situation arise (emergency call outs)
  10. To provide support to other members of the Assets, Regeneration and Construction division as required.
  11. To undertake any other duties falling within the scope of the post as requested by management.
