Senior Compliance Officer

(Private Sector Housing )

£32,233 - £37,107

LOCATION:

City Centre

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To ensure compliance with Housing Act 2004,  and other regulatory legislation related to Private Sector Housing

DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO:

Private Sector Housing Licensing Compliance Co-ordinator

 

 

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • To undertake inspections and compliance visits to enforce relevant housing legislation.
  • To prepare enforcement files for civil penalties and prosecutions.
  • To serve notices, legal documents and other correspondence in relation to enforcing compliance with the Housing Act 2004 and other regulatory legislation related to Private Sector Housing.
  • To investigate complaints and respond to service requests received about Private Sector Housing in Liverpool.
  • To assist in the planning of proactive, targeted action and lead on area based enforcement action.
  • To represent the service at meetings, courts, tribunals and inquiries.
  • To respond to Have Your Say complaints and requests made under the Freedom of Information Act.
  • To attend training courses to maintain continued professional development.

  1. Degree, Diploma or HND in Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Food Safety, Health and Safety or other similar enforcement functions or  proven equivalent experience/professional accreditation.*
  2. Training and achievement in Professionalising Investigations Programme (minimum Level 1).*

  1. Experience in ensuring compliance with legal requirements.*
  2. Experience of working in an enforcement service and undertaking criminal .investigations.*
  3. Experience in housing enforcement including HHSRS.
  4. Experience in preparing letters, reports, legal documents and prosecution cases.*
  5. Experience in attending court to present evidence, obtain warrants.*
